Syracuse University Abroad is pleased to announce the winners of the Alumni Photo Contest, sponsored in conjunction with the annual Study Abroad Day recruitment fair. Open to former study abroad participants, the photo contest allows both photography students as well as students from other majors to share some of their most memorable snapshots from their time abroad with the opportunity to win prizes. Winners of the contest received $100 and $50 Best Buy gift cards for first and second place in each category and a digital photo frame was given to the “Best in Show.”
The 2010 photo contest drew the highest participation in its four-year history with a total of 60 entries. SU Abroad recruitment specialist Wendy Sikorski, who coordinates the competition, attributes its success to the use of Facebook this year. Students were asked to send a hard copy of their photos in addition to a digital copy which was uploaded to the SU Abroad fan page on Facebook. Fans of the page could vote by clicking the ‘like’ button under their favorite pictures.
